How To Make Your Home Perfect If You’re A Book Lover

Reading is a fantastic pastime that many people adore, and if you’re a real book lover, you’re sure to have vast quantities and tall piles of books all over your home. But although that can look quite pleasant, and it’s certainly going to make you happy, what about turning your home into something else? What about combining the ideas of wonderful interior design with your huge book collection or linking your home to your reading hobby in other ways? It’s a great idea that will boost your home’s aesthetic appeal hugely. If you like the idea, here are some great ways to get started, so read on to find out more.

Create A Cozy Reading Nook

If you’re a book lover, the one thing you’re definitely going to need in your home is a reading nook – a place to escape with a good book that gives you some peace and quiet away from the rest of the house and the outside world.

Start by picking the right spot, which could be a whole room or just a quiet corner of one – the best thing to look for is a lot of natural light, if possible, as that will help to make it easier to read in for longer. You’ll also want a comfortable place to sit (perhaps a soft armchair, a beanbag, or even a chaise lounge with lots of plush cushions), and add some blankets so you can enjoy the spot even on colder days. Then you’ll also want a side table for your drinks and a reading lamp, and finally, you’ll need somewhere to put your books – some small bookcases or shelves are ideal, especially if you can use them to section off your reading nook from the rest of the room.

Have Great Bookshelves

Bookshelves are one of the most important pieces of furniture a book lover can own, so these are definitely something to focus on when you’re making your home perfect for you. The ideal thing to do would be to look for the most unique bookshelves you can that still fit with your overall design ideas and what you like personally – hand-crafted shelves and bookcases are a lovely thing to buy because they’re generally unique, and you can even customize them from the start if you speak to the creator.

There are lots of different types of bookshelves to choose from, including floating shelves, ladder-style bookcases, or perhaps built-in bookshelves that make use of alcoves and awkward spaces in your home that would otherwise go to waste.

Create Your Own Library

Not everyone will have the space to do this, but if you do, then why not make your own personal library at home? Ideally, you’ll have a spare room that isn’t used for anything else if you like the sound of this idea – perhaps a spare bedroom or a dining room that no one ever eats in, for example.

If you have a room like this, fit floor-to-ceiling shelves along all the walls and add some comfortable seating and a reading table – in other words, add the things you’d find in a public library that make the room comfortable and user-friendly. This is like having a reading nook – like we mentioned above – but on a much bigger scale. What’s great about this idea is that you can decorate it to look like a traditional library, with lots of dark wood and green colors (which are very relaxing), and this will work even if the rest of your house is ultra-modern because it’s a separate room.

Display Your Favorite Quotes

If you’re looking for something a little different to do to make your home more stylish and comfortable as a book lover, why not display your favorite quotes from the books you’ve read? There are some lines from great books that can really stick with you, and if you have some in your mind that you love, you can print them out, frame them, and then hang them on your walls – this is fantastic if you do have a library or smaller reading nook, but it’s something you can do in any room in the house, so don’t hold back.

Not only will this be a lovely artistic touch in your home, but if you choose the right quotes, it can also be inspirational and help you get through tougher days, keeping you happy and positive (plus, you’ll be surrounded by books, so that will help too!).

Your home should reflect the thing that makes you happiest in life, and if you love books, that’s the ideal place to start when you’re thinking of home decor.
