The Grinch, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
The Grinch first appeared in a children’s book written by Dr. Suess in 1957. Since the first appearance of the Grinch, the character has become synonymous with the Christmas holiday. Eleven years after his first appearance, the Grinch appeared on the small screen (television). This TV Special debuted in 1966, and along with bringing the Grinch to life, created the classic song “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch.” The next appearance of this version of the Grinch occurred in 1996, with the character making several appearances in the Nick Jr. show The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss. The Grinch was reimagined in the year 2000. This live-action version saw Jim Carey take over the mantle of the character, and in my opinion, create one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. Eighteen years later, the Grinch was then reimagined for a new animated movie produced by Illumination. While each of these Grinch movies has its unique qualities that make them memorable, in my opinion, one Grinch stands above the rest.
Grinch (2000) is admittedly my favorite Christmas movie. Each year our family enjoy the Grinch multiple time during the Christmas season. Jim Carrey as the Grinch took the character to new heights. His unique take on the Grinch brought to life the Grinch’s hatred for Christmas and embraced the more emotional aspects of the character. The movie gives more of the backstory of the Grinch and takes the viewer to the time where the Grinch’s hatred for Christmas began. The Grinch is shown as a kid who doesn’t fit in and is bullied by the other children. The bullying leads to the Grinch retreating to the confines of Mt. Crumpet.

The movie has many memorable moments; one of my favorites is when the Grinch stands on top of the mountain hating the Whos. This scene has spawned multiple memes and other social media depictions that constantly make the rounds on social media. The movie ends on a high note as the Grinch is redeemed, and his heart grows as he begins to celebrate with the Whos.
This is just my humble opinion. The Grinch character has become an important figure during the Christmas season. In the coming blogs, the different aspects in which the Grinch has bled into Christmas including the classic Grinch song and the décor of Christmas Grinch style will take center stage
